Can we go back to the beginning,
So I can unsay what I said?
I want to think some more and
This time get it right.

Can we go back to where it started,
So I can undo what I did?
I didn’t mean to hurt you, God
I loved you so much it hurt.

Can we go back before the damage,
So I can rethink my decisions?
So I can make it never happen,
And destroy one less soul.

Can we step back to the first kiss,
Where we were both proud and good?
So we never have to do those things
That killed our hopes and faith?

Can we undo those actions,
So I don’t have to be what I am?
I wish I didn’t need to know
How evil I can be.

… See you in Hell.

Pope Benedict XVI has barely had a chance to warm his seat and he has already condemned an entire country for their nasty behaviours.

He has called for all Catholics in Spain to resist the new law changes that allow gay marraige and adoption. He said “every profession linked with implementing homosexual marriages should oppose it”, even if it means them losing their jobs.

How can this be right? A man with so much influence as the Pope calling on citizens to break the laws of their country and to be prejudiced against a minority group? Where is this taught?

We knew when he was “elected” that he is traditionalist, and that he would not be announcing abortion clinics are to open in Church basements. But to incite prejudice (which inevitably leads to hatred) seems counter-productive. Not just to the situation, but to society.

Our fragile society has taken many blows over the past few years, we have disgraced ourselves on many occasions. At least we have recognised this and learned though. This seems like a huge step backwards for us all.

We have Bush inciting hatred against all kinds of races, the UK has a good chance of falling to the Conservatives, in Canada it looks like the Conservatives will call an election in the hope of winning the country, and we inherited a Pope who would rather cause war than work on alternate solutions.

There are many things allowed by law but not by religion. So tell Catholics not to be gay or not to adopt children if they are in a gay relationship. But please don’t create another divide in an already splintered, paranoid and hurting society.

I feel a great deal of friction, oppression, taught hatred and freedom fighting coming our way.
